John Deacy, 62, of Norwalk, was arrested by Wilton Police on Saturday, Dec. 21, when a passing motorist informed officers that a pickup truck was driving erratically on Danbury Road, said the Wilton Police Department.

Officers were able to locate the white 2000 Ford F150 truck on Danbury Road near the intersection of Cannon Road, police said.

A traffic stop was made after the driver failed to maintain a proper lane, police said.

When officers approached the vehicle they said there was a strong odor of alcohol coming from Deacy's breath, and that he allegedly had slurred speech, and glassy/bloodshot eyes, police reported.

In addition, when Deacy was asked to walk to the back of his vehicle, he allegedly lost his balance several times and almost fell over, police said.

Officers said that two juveniles were in the vehicle with Deacy.

Deacy was arrested after allegedly failing a field sobriety test and during a search, an empty bottle of vodka was found in addition to 11 "nips" of vodka, all which were empty, police said.

Family members were called to take custody of the children.

Deacy was charged with operating a vehicle under the influence of alcohol and/or drugs, two counts of driving under the influence with children under 18 in the vehicle, driving without insurance, and failure to maintain a proper lane.

Once at the police station, Deacy refused a chemical breath test.

He was released on a $2,500 bond and is scheduled to appear in court on Jan. 2, 2020.

Deacy was arrested on the same charges on Friday, Dec. 6 by Norwalk Police.

The Department of Children and Families was notified to investigate the matter.
